A gem. Charlottesville is lucky to have Rebecca's. The woman who helped me with supplements was extremely knowledgable. Yes, the prices are generally a bit higher than Whole Foods, but the selection is excellent for anyone who is focused on eating a healthy diet. (I'm a little surprised by others' comments about price -- ridiculous to think that a store this size could have prices competitive with a huge chain! c'mon now... And since everyone I've interacted with there has been very good and pleasant and natural (without Whole Foods required lines), I can only imagine that the other posts about the workers was more of a reflection on the reviewer than the staff itself.) Shop Rebecca's and support this local business -- and your health!!
On more than one occasional, I've been steered in the right direction by health/beauty/supplement staff - their advice helped me clear up a respiratory infection that had dragged on for months and I've been following the recommended winter supplements for kids posted on their blog (thanks Brandon!) - no major illnesses so far this cold/flu season.
Oh...where to begin? I love Rebecca's and am in there almost every week. It is so nice to have access to such carefully chosen products - and to interact with sales staff who can speak intelligently about what's in the store. Bill in grocery is my go-to person for food related questions (aka - what should I be looking for when I am buying almonds? Or coconut oil? or anything...).
Rebecca's is the best health food store in Virginia. The food and supplement staff have extensive training and education in their area of specialty. The bulk herbs are far superior both in freshness and size. Family owned. Awesome people!!!
Great products but man do they over price everything. You can get the same stuff for like 5 bucks cheaper down the street.
I'm a big fan of Rebecca's, I shop there regularly. They either have what I want, or can make it available on their next order. Rebecca's has everything I would expect from a health food store anywhere, and even a bit more. There is no way a small store like that should have fresh greens in Summer, or really even any fresh produce. I simply wouldn't expect it, since they stand to lose too much money. And yet, every year, they feature fresh, organic produce. Anything that is pricey is a luxury item, whereas every item I actually need is reasonably priced. They are competitive in supplements, have kombucha on tap, and stock a pretty solid variety of gifts and cards (especially around Xmas time). I have no complaints, and every reason to keep shopping at Rebecca's.
I regularly place special orders and they are ready in a matter of days. Rebecca's always has locally raised eggs in stock and they support small farms in our area, not to mention a number of local non-profits. This is exactly the type of business that makes Charlottesville a special place to live.
