This nature preserve is a gem of Charlottesville and Albemarle. I love the rules for no dogs, joggers, bikes, etc. which makes the park a great place for observing wildlife. Some nice flat trails as well as hilly for a workout. Some impressive views of the reservoir. Check the website for nature programs.
We love going to Ivy Creek for nature walks with the kids. Right at the entrance is a vig 3D map and also paper maps of the trails to take along. We like to take a snack to eat in the picnic area while watching the birds and butterflies. There's also a pokemon gym and several pokestops.
The barn with the beehives is open on the weekends and a good place to go with the family. Also, the trails are good for walking and are not too difficult.
Great nature preserve close to town with nice hiking trails and activities. Highly recommended!
We really liked the trails and the nature barn at the park. The kids got to see the living bee hive and they actually spotted the queen.
