Loved the experience! It's an incredibly beautiful place and I think they did a great job incorporating information about Jefferson's relationship with his slave and the lineage they created. Their free museum is super quirky and the nearby cafe is hands down the best museum cafe I have ever eaten at. The selection is immense, the food is actually tasty and huge portioned, and everything is so cheap! I could honestly just go and eat there for lunch alone.

Great place to spend an afternoon. The museum is very well put together. I especially appreciate the section about the building and how much thought was put into each detail of the architecture. Although, when i was there some of the computer exhibits were not functioning. The house itself is awesome. Full of his own collections of native American relics, artwork, and colonial gadgets. It's a wonder to behold. Then there are also the gardens full of his collected native, European and staple crops from his day. The cafe has many fine options from light snack to full meals moderately priced.

Thomas Jefferson is truly one of the most interesting people from history. From his public service, his architecture, his wealth of knowledge, to his inventive curiosity, he was always striving to do more. The wealth of information to be learned at Monticello could span more than a day easily, I never found myself to be bored. The staff is very knowledgeable about the history and very willing to share. Highly recommend a visit and tour.

Truly a special place designed by Thomas Jefferson as his home on a mountain top. It has changed since our last visit many years ago when you could drive almost up to the house. Now you have to park, pay admission and be taken up on on of their shuttles. The tour guide was very informative and gave an interesting talk. Next time would like to explore the gardens and grounds. We were not allowed in the cemetery which is owned by the Jefferson family and was undergoing some work. This very special place in our nation's history, now has a bit of touristy feel to it.

This was beautiful and very worth the drive. We went on the tour of the house and explored the museum/shops a bit - we really appreciated the obvious care that went into restoration and presentation of the landmark. The tour guides make an effort to answer any questions you have and discuss all sides of Thomas Jefferson, in lieu of just fawning over him. Absolutely worth the admission price - if we lived closer we may have even gotten a membership. Make the time, especially for the drive through UVA's campus.
