On 12.07.09 I receive a notice in the mail that my account has been turned over to collections due to non-payment. Again, I called in immediately to see what the situation was. The girl that answered the phone informed me that the woman I needed to speak to wasn't there, and to call back the following day. I asked her if she could explain the situation to me, because I was under the impression that everything was up to date. She indicated that there was NO Record of the 2nd payment. It wasn't received, noted, Nothing. And now they've added additional financing charges, and sent it to collections.
In Fact - They NEVER CALLED, NOT ONCE !! I NEVER Received a Notice / Final Notice, or anything of that nature.

Long story made short, we ended up having no other choice but to put her down at the young age of 4 years old. An Extremely Difficult Decision to make, but it wasn't fair to Bella. At that time the staff told us they would send us the bill, and not to worry about settling it right then and there (since we've spent HUNDREDS upon HUNDREDS of dollars with them in the past).
I never received a bill. I did receive a "Sorry for your loss" card from them, which I thought was kind of them. Months later I receive a bill for $93.44 which is "Past Due" at this point. I immediately called in to see what this was about. I was informed it was for the services rendered 3 months earlier, and it needed to be paid (obviously). I made a payment for 50% of the balance on 10.30.09, and asked to have the balance drafted the following month on the same credit card.
I personally feel a lack of customer courtesy given the conditions of the situation at hand. It wasn't like I never made an effort to contact them, never made payment(s), or was ignoring their attempts to contact me regarding the balance.
I am Extremely Disappointed !!
I recently had to take my pet ferret into Charlottesville Veterinary Hospital because she was sick and literally dying slowly. While we were in the facility with my ferret, Bella, everyone we extremely friendly, and concerned for Bella.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Raab -- when my young dog Annie seemed to be having trouble with her teeth, we got her in for a dental cleaning (she was due anyway) and Dr. Raab discovered a very slight swelling on one side of her jaw that I had not noticed. Long story short, it ended up being a cancerous growth and Dr. Raab referred us to a good surgical specialist in the area. We ended up having to put Annie down because the cancer simply moved too fast, but Dr. Raab was my vet of choice for this, too, as she has a wonderful calming manner with even the most nervous of animals. When I eventually got another young dog, I felt very confident taking her to Dr. Raab for wellness care, spay/dental, attention to allergies and t-storm phobias. Dr. Raab's experience in alternative modalities is especially helpful, as it opens up whole new possibilities when addressing chronic problems. And the fact that I can e-mail her anytime with questions is a huge plus! Thanks, Dr. Raab!
I called back to speak with the proper person about the account today (the following day), and she just said, "You need to speak with collections from here out." and they have nothing to do with it anymore. I asked why a courtesy phone call or letter wasn't sent to let me know about the account before sending it to collections... She said, "we should have sent a letter, but its too late now."
