This place reminds me of Benihanas back in my home state. It's an entertaining family type of restaurant that engages the chef to perform with food. Some say it's high priced, but its a lot of food and you can always share your plate or take the rest home to eat.
I have an allergy to mushrooms which was noted to the waitress and I was happy to see that the chef didn't cook any mushrooms until my food had already been served.
Well I am enjoying a ninja bloody mary, some sushi rolls which were delicious, I am waiting for the main course....shrimp and scallops, cooked in front of us. They put on quite a show. Truly enjoyed my Sunday afternoon.
I do wish the Sukura tables were a little smaller. Not all strangers in Charlottesville are friendly from what I've experienced here and it can cause tension when someone is staring you down as you're placed at their table.
This food always good worth the money
If you choose to sit at the grill, I'd recommend to keep your face and hair as far back, flames will shoot up after igniting the oil placed on the grill.
Everything from the beginning until we (7) left was great. A 7 year old child was in our group and the chef performed fantastically and all enjoyed the food and his cooking methods, including the child. A little pricey but the servings were well worth it. I will go again.
