Good luck getting anyone on the phone. AND very rude associates.
My Reaction: being a mildly technologically proficient young person I chose to disregard his advice and go do my own research. In 15 minutes I found a third party program online which quickly scanned, analyzed, and fixed the corrupted file, allowing me to recover.
Recall on phone part. Called ahead of time to see if they could fix my phone that day. Don't live close. They said to come in. We show up and they don't have the part. Even asked on the phone call.
SimplyMac: condescending and slightly derisive employee, upon viewing my error messages regarding the corrupted file claimed/demanded that the file was lost, and that I should delete and start over. Stated with certainty, from his place of power, that there was nothing I could do.
Rude unhelpful staff and $70 to install Mac OS X and wipe hard drive?! Scam and should be avoided. Real Apple Store in short pump is actually helpful and not scam artists like this one
Tip: Make the extra 45 minute drive to Richmond.
Overall: I understand if said employee was not able to physically perform this fix in store, but at the minimum he could have communicated that a third party option was available. Instead he tried to screw me. I fear an older or less technologically user would have taken such advice for sound. SHAME.
My Problem: trying to utilize a corrupt IPhone backup which contained over 10,000 pictures and countless other personally valuable files.
I briefly came to this location to take a look around and too have a tech look at my phone. I have been having issues with my charging port on my iPhone. The tech looked at my phone and simply said “$20 and I can clean it out.” I said no thank you, I will go home and use a can of air to remove any thing In the port. He then said “were better at it”. I would highly suggest you avoiding this place. Just take the trip to Richmond to visit an actual apple store. You will be glad you did. This store does not value the customer it feels like. They definitely do not live the Apple values. The employee (I only talked to one person) seemed like he had better things to do and did not want to waste his time with me.
