I have a hard time deciding how to rate this as 3 * or lower. Unlike most people that will review here, I've had the opportunity to see inside every single room on the whole estate. The grounds were beautiful, although you had to see it from outside, because every one of their windows looks like they hadn't been cleaned since Thomas Jefferson. I was there for a wedding, the entire estates was closed for our party. I'm sure you can only imagine the cost. The rooms, cheapest is $560/nt, did not feel like they were getting the value for the money. If I'd have spent it elsewhere, I'd have had a hot tub in the room, and all the rooms would have had walk in showers. The biggest thing that was most disappointing, was the manager Amanda(I believe). After Sooo much $$ spent there, she would go around sniffing your cup to see if it was alcohol. If it was and you hadn't bought it from her, she actually dumped it out!! She dumped drinks all evening, even a few that were gotten from her just poured into plastic cups so we could be by the pool, and really made everyone in the wedding party upset. Also, you cannot smoke on the grounds at all. $500 fine. So no celebratory cigars y'all. The remainder of the staff, was great!
I volunteered at Trump Winery for their 10k race last weekend. I just moved to the Charlottesville area 5 months ago and had heard many good things about this winery/vineyard yet had never been there. It is drop dead gorgeous. I cannot wait to go back. Absolutely beautiful place to visit and take in the scenery. The workers there were very knowledgeable and fast. I cannot wait to go back again. Very pretty place to stay also.
You really do have to read into those 1-star reviews. They're irrational and, well bs. Place is great! Service is great! Atmosphere is great! Views are one of the best is the region. Rooms are gorgeous.
So, if your staying just a night and are passing through, it would probably be great; indoor theater room, one pool table, great history, 1300 acres, old artifacts and stories, and you won't mind that the shower curtain isn't arched out and rubs you down as you shower. I'm not going to post pictures through Windows or of the rooms, not worth it.
Super nice place. It feels like you home away from home. Great staff, exceptional service. Truly one of the finest places I have been to. I love the whole concept. You are doing a great job Eric keep up the good work!!!
Although I have never been here, the place looks AMAZING. I am surely saving up to visit! Definitely the type of place for a get away and seems proper and elegant. I do wonder, do you have to drive out to find restaurants for dinner/lunch or does the hotel sell dinner/lunch?
