It's a nice 4 star for a good price. Right off the interstate with a local sandwich and bagel shop in the same parking lot and lots of decent eats just down the street. The room was clean and neat and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Heated indoor pool was nice too. Full complementary breakfast including bacon and eggs with oatmeal, bagels, French toast and fresh fruit. Only drawback from breakfast was there was no real maple syrup, just that nest high fructose poison that ruins everything it touches. All in all a good value for what you pay.
The location is really great. It's close to the freeway and right next door to my favorite place to eat, Boda's. Everyone that worked here was really nice, everything felt clean. The complimentary breakfast was all you can eat and really good. A few not so great things: it was really hard to get our room cleaned on one of the days because they were overbooked, the doors of our room were really difficult to close because they moved against the wall, and the room service left my cousin's door ajar and didn't lock it after cleaning it on one day. Otherwise, good experience.
The breakfast buffet was one of the most delicious breakfasts I've ever had anywhere! Hands down the best of any complimentary breakfast at other hotels!
This is the third time I have stayed at the English Inn, and it will probably be the last. As other reviews have stated, it is a pleasant hotel, well located, with easy parking and free breakfast. However, this time there was a downside to our stay. The temperature control in the room did not operate. We were much too warm at night and, of course, the windows are sealed shut. For some reason, the housekeeping staff did not make up our room, so I had to make the beds and fetch clean towels. Plus the person at the desk was neither apologetic nor helpful in remedying the situation. Another desk agent grumbled when we asked for guide to the TV stations (which should have been available in the room). Finally, astonishing for a hotel of this size, there are no vending machines, so if you come in wanting a snack, you are out of luck. Next time in Charlottesville, I think I'll look for another venue.
The room and accommodations we're all nice. The only other complaint was the elevator; those doors close insanely fast, so be careful to enter and exit quickly!
The pool was nice and clean, but it definitely wasn't heated as advertised when we went swimming at 7 o'clock pm.
Great find. Was called last minute to Charlottesville and was pleasantly surprised to find this gem. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, great price and convenient to everything we needed. Thoroughly enjoyed having a real breakfast buffet too. If I could leave 20 stars I would
