My friend chose the Clifton Inn for a celebratory dinner for 6 people. We had high hopes for the food (the menu looked good).
For Restaurant Only: Mediocre Experience
The Clifton Inn was a tremendous place to stay for us. We brought our dog and stayed in the Blue Ridge Suite. The grounds were beautiful, the staff was helpful and friendly and the dinner was fantastic. Highly recommend the Clifton Inn.
I got the fish and found it mediocre. There was no sauce and while I felt healthy eating it, I would SKIP SKIP SKIP.
Service: 4 stars (fine but did not go above and beyond)

Cute accommodation, very clean. Well maintained. The area is stunning. Really enjoyed 2 nights there. Perfect for weddings.

I've kept a nice memory of this place. We spent 3 nights here in August 2015. The atmosphere was welcoming, warm. The garden delighted us every time we looked outside. The food was good and I've remembered a good choice of wines.
Three people in our group got the steak. The waiter did not ask how people wanted them done and then presented everyone with almost rare steak. Even though it was rare, the steak was still chewy. Gross. AVOID at all costs.
The only things worth getting on the menu is the shrimp and grits which had a Greek flair with the lamb sausage and mint oil. Yes, it is an appetizer so it might be worth getting a few of them
Best option: eat elsewhere and just have drinks here.
